Texas Hill Country - Ideal Place to Spend Your Vacation

Texas Hill Country - Ideal Place to Spend Your Vacation

"This is God's country". This saying was perhaps first said by a person who was passing through the Texas hill country. An area of about 14,000 square miles of spectacular different terrains is covered by this hill country, creating the most unbilievable views all over the world. The fall foliage season is particularly incredible when the weather is cool, making the leaves burst into a kaleidoscope of yellows, reds and oranges.

Nature lovers will rejoice in the glory of nature as well as the variety of wildlife and birds to be seen in the hill country. There are many unspoiled, crystal clear streams and rivers running through the region where you can see the animals, such as whitetail deer, going down to drink. There are areas of open fields, filled with native wildflowers such as the Indian paintbrush, that are often just as fragrant as they are beautiful.

Hikers will enjoy wandering the hills, exploring deep canyons and climbing to grassy plateaus for an absolutely breathtaking view. The many streams and rivers provide lots of water fun for the whole family, including canoeing, kayaking, tubing, swimming and more. Fishermen will find a rich abundance of fish in the waters, as well.

Spelunkers, or cavers, will find an assortment of caverns and underground wonders throughout the region. Some of the cave systems go hundreds of feet below the surface, offering plenty of exploration opportunities to the brave adventurer.

Those who don't want to focus only on the natural wonders of the region will still find plenty of activities to keep the entire family busy and happy during their vacations. There are both smaller towns and larger cities dotted throughout the Texas hill country with all the cultural attractions you may want. There are working dude ranches where you can experience life as an old time cowboy and go riding through the trails. There are also a wide variety of family attractions including zoos, museums and even amusement parks scattered through the area.

For a family vacation that has such a vast array of activities and attractions, you won't find a better region than the hill country of Texas. Pleasant climate combined with scenic wonders make anything outdoors a joy, while within an hour or two you can find all the excitement of the city as well. You can spend the day fishing for bass and then still go out to a nice restaurant and take in a movie in the evening. That's the life!
